The growing number of attacks against security personnel and their offices by segments of the civilian population during the legitimate operations of the nation’s security agencies has been noted with great concern by the National Security Council.
The Council vehemently opposes these acts of hostility, which jeopardise the safety of the very personnel tasked with protecting the populace as well as the rule of law and state authority.
It must be underlined that no person or group has the right to attack or obstruct public officers in the lawful performance of their duties, whether verbally, physically, or with the use of weapons, even though the Council insists that security personnel who behave impolitely or misuse their power against any member of the public face the proper disciplinary action.
As a result, the National Security Council orders that all security services use the bare minimum of force required to protect themselves and uphold the law in the event that individuals or groups of people commit any kind of violent attack. This directive takes effect immediately.
The Council reiterates its steadfast dedication to preserving the Republic’s peace, stability, public order, and the integrity of its security institutions while making sure that all operations are conducted in conformity with Ghanaian laws and democratic ideals.
