Victor Ofosu Boamah, a prominent figure in Bono Region’s “Youth Caucus for Alan,” has claimed that John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is the best candidate for the ruling NPP to keep power.
Mr. Ofosu Boamah stressed that Alan Kyerematen’s vision, ethics, and mild demeanor set him apart from his rivals during an interview on the premier political program “The Hot Point” on Sunyani-based Space FM.
Mr. Ofosu Boamah stressed that Alan is the candidate who best appeals to the voting populace to enable NPP to retain power, considering that the party seeks not only a presidential candidate but also someone capable of leading the country, even though he acknowledged that all the contenders are qualified to lead the party.
He urged those who have been spreading misinformation about Alan on behalf of other candidates to offer their arguments and engage in civil discussion. While several candidates are aggressively pushing their causes, Mr. Ofosu Boamah said that some of them turn to unfounded slander against Alan.
Mr. Ofosu Boamah emphasized Alan Kyerematen’s close ties to the party’s grassroots, stressing that his camp is unafraid of the efforts of some government appointees and others who seem to support a particular candidate.
He also highlighted Alan’s significant NPP experience, having previously held a number of ministerial positions. Alan Kyerematen led various productive measures to encourage trade and investment in Ghana while serving as the minister of commerce and industry.
Mr. Ofosu Boamah listed the following achievements as some of his noteworthy ones:
With an emphasis on agro-processing, manufacturing, and value-added sectors, the One District, One Factory Program was established in 2017 with the goal of promoting industrialization and the creation of jobs by creating at least one factory in each of Ghana’s 260 districts.
National Export Strategy: Launched in 2019, this strategy aimed to strengthen Ghana’s export sector by enhancing export competitiveness, diversifying exports, and offering business support services. The application of this method helped Ghana set new export records.
Ghana Commodity Exchange: In 2018, Alan was instrumental in the establishment of the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX). Small-scale farmers profit from the GCX, an electronic platform that makes it easier to sell agricultural goods transparently and effectively while lowering post-harvest losses.
Industrial Parks and Special Economic Zones: Alan managed the creation of a number of SEZs and industrial parks around Ghana. Through advantages like tax rebates, customs exemptions, and faster business registration procedures, these SEZs attracted foreign investment.
In his final statement, Mr. Ofosu Boamah affirmed that Alan Kyerematen’s policies and initiatives as Ghana’s Minister of Trade and Industry had made a major contribution to the country’s economic expansion, the creation of jobs, and increased market access for small-scale farmers.
Candidates’ histories are likely to be investigated as the NPP primaries draw near. Given the mixed success of Vice President Bawumia’s initiatives, some political observers believe it may be harder to defend his record than it was for Alan Kyerematen.
In conclusion, Mr. Ofosu Boamah underlined that the NPP primaries will feature a tight competition between candidates who are seeking for the nomination. Although each candidate has made a significant contribution, the party must be ready to defend the record of their preferred candidate. Based on Alan Kyerematen’s accomplishments and reputation, his supporters may find this defense to be simpler.
