Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday formally launched the book yesterday, “The Republic: A Professional Journey, Ghana’s Cybersecurity and The Making of a Role Model Country.”

Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, the founder of Ghana’s cybersecurity organization, e-Crime Bureau, and former Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, wrote The Republic.

The book details Dr. Antwi-Boasiako’s groundbreaking contributions to Ghana’s cybersecurity landscape over the course of over 15 years, both in the public and commercial sectors.

According to the ITU’s Global Cybersecurity Index, it provides readers with a comprehensive understanding of Ghana’s cybersecurity journey from the early stages to a tier-1, role model nation (from 32.6 percent in 2017 to 99.27 percent in 2024).

In a speech, former President Akufo-Addo thanked the book’s author and everyone who had helped Ghana achieve remarkable success and progress in cybersecurity.

“Your unwavering dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit have been instrumental in positioning Ghana as a beacon of excellence and innovation in cybersecurity on the continent and beyond.”

He stated that unified leadership, direction, ministerial control, and technical know-how collaborating with partners were necessary to maintain Ghana’s position on the international scene.

“Ghana cannot afford to delay since neighbouring countries are aggressively competing with us in the same space for investment.”

He urged people to read the book since it was a source of motivation for the next generation, particularly those who wanted to work in government.

The book is divided into five sections and includes behind-the-scenes information, strategies, policy decisions, the collective sacrifices that formed Ghana’s cybersecurity ecosystem, and the relationship between public sector leadership and personal convictions.

The Republic is a historical account of the beginnings, pivotal moments, difficulties, and cooperative endeavors that brought Ghana to international prominence in the field of cybersecurity.

It provides insightful guidance for public sector leadership and institutional development.

Other notable individuals that complimented Dr. Antwi-Boasiako on his accomplishments were Madam Laura Ranalli, the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, and Mr. C.K. Btuce, CEO of Innovare.

Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe of the Court of Appeal reviewed the work.
