The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has announced the arrest of a significant person in the local drug trade following a massive operation on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Buduburam and nearby settlements in the Central Region’s Gomoa East Municipality.
The 32-year-old woman, Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, often known as “Mother,” has long been considered as a key role in illicit narcotics activities. Local opinion leaders characterise her as a notorious figure who has previously avoided arrest.
The raid, which was part of NACOC’s nationwide campaign against drug trafficking and misuse, resulted in the recovery of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled narcotics, as well as things thought to be associated with drug peddling.
Additionally, a number of people engaged in drug-related operations were arrested.
Because the suspect was involved in multiple drug trafficking enterprises, NACOC acknowledged that she had been closely monitored.
The illegal actions of the accused who are now in custody have been the subject of multiple complaints to the Commission.
Officials stressed that the arrested people will be brought before the court in compliance with the law. The public was further reassured by NACOC of its steadfast dedication to eradicating drugs from Ghana.
