The Ghana Police Service would like to notify the public that extensive security measures have been implemented for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries, which are set to take place across the country today, Saturday, January 31, 2026.

The Police Service has sent enough officers to all of the nation’s designated polling places, collation sites, and adjacent areas.

In addition to protecting property prior to, during, and following the exercise, these steps are meant to guarantee the safety of delegates, party officials, election officials, observers, and the general public.

Rapid response teams have been stationed to react quickly to any potential security problem, and police visibility patrols—both mobile and stationary—will be increased.

Access control measures will also be used at voting locations to preserve order throughout the process.

The Ghana Police Service urges all party supporters and members of the public to completely comply with security personnel, follow the rules of the primaries, and conduct themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner.

The Police Service also encourages the public to immediately report any suspicious activity or security concerns to officers on duty, at the local police station, or by dialling 191 or 112.

The Ghana Police Service remains devoted to its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property while ensuring peace and security throughout the country.
