The number of Ghanaians experiencing food insecurity dropped to 12.5 million in the third quarter of 2025, down from 13.4 million in the second quarter, according to the latest Quarterly Food Insecurity Report released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

At the national level, the proportion of the population facing food insecurity fell to 38.1 per cent in Q3, compared with 41.1 per cent in Q2, indicating a gradual improvement in access to adequate nutrition.

The report, however, points to ongoing disparities across gender and geographic lines.

From the first quarter of 2024 to Q3 2025, female-headed households consistently experienced higher levels of moderate food insecurity.
