Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, the Deputy Minister for Health, visited the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Goaso as part of her working visit to the Ahafo Region to speak with students and evaluate their training and wellbeing.

The Deputy Minister stressed to the students that health training institutes serve as the cornerstone of Ghana’s future healthcare delivery system.

The next generation of nurses and midwives is trained to provide care, skill, discipline, and professionalism in these institutions, she said, where dedication is transformed into competence.

Prof. Ayensu Danquah also emphasised the government’s unwavering commitment to converting health training facilities into organisations that grant Bachelor of Science degrees.

She states that the reform aims to improve professional advancement, raise academic standards, and bring health training into line with contemporary demands in healthcare education.

She indicated that some 42 health training colleges have passed their evaluations and are now awaiting accreditation to start degree programs. She called this development a major step toward bolstering the nation’s healthcare workforce.

Students expressed gratitude for the Deputy Minister’s support and presence during the visit, which offered a chance for face-to-face interaction.
