Lordina Dramani Mahama, First Lady, has commissioned the newly rebuilt and fully equipped Anyima Health Centre in the Bono East Region’s Kintampo South District to provide access to high-quality healthcare.
The Lordina Foundation’s project, launched in response to Anyima Queenmother Nana Saa Gyamfuaa II’s campaigning, would provide increased maternal, emergency, and outpatient services to over 3,000 inhabitants of Anyima and nearby areas.
Mrs. Mahama voiced concern about Ghana’s maternal and child mortality rates, stating that maternal mortality remained near 300 deaths per 100,000 live births, while infant mortality is about 32 deaths per 1,000 live births.
“Behind these numbers are mothers, daughters, sisters and precious children whose lives could be saved with timely access to quality healthcare facilities and skilled birth attendants,” she stated.
Additionally, she announced that President John Dramani Mahama will shortly begin a Primary Health Care Program that will offer free medical treatments at establishments like the Anyima Health Center.
