Dennis Edward “Miracles” Aboagye, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) media team, was arrested on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Accra International Airport.

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted him bail.

Aboagye was granted GH¢50 million in bail with three justifiable sureties.

His legal counsel and EOCO authorities engaged for hours before his release.

Aboagye is presently being investigated for alleged violations relating to finances and procurement that occurred during his tenure as the executive secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).

In connection with the suspected mismanagement, diversion, and theft of public funds totalling about GH55 million, EOCO is investigating Aboagye, along with former IMCCoD accountant Gerald Appiah and other unidentified individuals.

The investigation’s forensic audit period runs from August 1, 2022, to February 2, 2025.

The anti-graft agency claims that money laundering, conspiracy to steal, inflicting financial loss to the state, and using public office for profit are among the potential offences under investigation.

A large number of supporters gathered at the EOCO headquarters, requiring the deployment of police, military, and national security forces to control the scene, following Aboagye’s arrest.

The NPP has denounced the action, calling it an attempt to scare party members.

On the other hand, EOCO insists that all proceedings will adhere to due process and that its actions are a part of a legitimate inquiry.
