The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has recorded a significant improvement in its financial performance, posting a net surplus of GH¢258.30 million in 2025.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has welcomed the results, describing the strong financial performance as a major achievement for the state-owned institution.

The figure represents a 271.52% increase compared with the GH¢69.52 million surplus recorded by the Authority in 2024, according to the 2025 State Ownership Report published by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA).

Prof. Gyampo disclosed the performance to staff after receiving the latest figures from the Director-General of SIGA. He noted that the report showed an overall improvement in the financial performance of several state-owned enterprises (SOEs), with some institutions moving from significant losses to profitability.

Expressing his appreciation to staff, the GSA CEO said the Authority had achieved a stronger financial position through the collective efforts and support of its workforce.

“By the grace of God and with your support, we have led the Ghana Shippers Authority to a superior financial performance,” he stated.

The Authority’s total income also nearly doubled, rising to approximately GH¢380.15 million in 2025.

At the same time, the GSA’s surplus margin increased substantially from 36.25% in 2024 to 67.95% in 2025, further highlighting the improvement in the institution’s financial position.

Prof. Gyampo commended employees for their contribution to the Authority’s improved financial results, acknowledging both the direct and indirect roles played by staff in strengthening the organisation’s operations.

“I think the Authority has done well, and I commend all of you for the diverse direct and indirect roles you have played to get us this far,” he said.

The 2025 State Ownership Report also placed the Ghana Shippers’ Authority’s total assets at GH¢979.92 million, while its accumulated fund stood at approximately GH¢810.46 million.

The latest financial results position the GSA among state-owned institutions that have recorded notable improvements in financial performance, potentially strengthening its capacity to support Ghana’s shipping, maritime and international trade sectors.

The development is also expected to contribute to broader discussions about state-owned enterprise profitability, financial accountability and effective management of public institutions in Ghana.
