Prices of petroleum products in Ghana are expected to increase at fuel stations from September 1, 2026, following an upward adjustment in the minimum price floors announced by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
The new prices will apply during the September 1 to 16, 2026 pricing window, with market data indicating increases in the benchmark prices for petrol and diesel.
Under the latest adjustment, the price floor for petrol has increased from GH¢13.92 per litre to GH¢14.53 per litre. The new benchmark represents an increase of approximately 4.38%.
The minimum price for diesel, popularly known as gasoil, has also been adjusted upwards from GH¢15.19 per litre to GH¢15.60 per litre, representing an increase of about 2.69%.
However, consumers of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are expected to benefit from a slight reduction in the benchmark price. The LPG price has been lowered from GH¢10.98 to GH¢10.85 per kilogramme.
The latest adjustment means motorists and other consumers could see higher petrol and diesel prices at Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) during the new pricing window, depending on the final pump prices set by individual fuel retailers.
In its notice, the National Petroleum Authority reminded industry operators, including Oil Marketing Companies and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs), of their obligation to comply with the approved price floors.
The NPA directed industry players not to sell petroleum products below the approved minimum price floor during the September 1–16 pricing window.
The latest development is expected to attract significant attention from motorists, commercial transport operators, businesses and households, particularly amid ongoing concerns over the rising cost of fuel and transportation in Ghana.
