Fuel prices in Ghana are expected to record mixed changes at the pumps from Friday, October 16, 2026, with petrol and diesel projected to become slightly cheaper while Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices could increase significantly.
According to the latest pricing outlook from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), petrol prices are expected to decline by nearly 2% to GH¢17.67 per litre, offering some relief to motorists and commercial drivers.
Diesel prices are also projected to fall by 3.32% to GH¢19.30 per litre during the upcoming fuel pricing window. However, LPG consumers may face a sharp price increase, with the cost per kilogram expected to rise by 18.5% to GH¢20.60.
The anticipated changes are likely to affect household budgets, transportation costs and businesses that depend on petroleum products for their daily operations.
Why Fuel Prices May Change in Ghana
During the October 1, 2026, fuel pricing window, most Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) maintained their existing pump prices. This followed the introduction of a GH¢2 levy on diesel and government intervention that saw the Tema Oil Refinery and Sentuo Oil supply refined petroleum products to oil marketing companies at previous prices.
The latest fuel price projections indicate that consumers could experience different pricing trends across petroleum products in the second half of October.
While the expected reduction in petrol and diesel prices could ease some transportation expenses, the projected increase in LPG prices may place additional financial pressure on households and businesses that rely on gas for cooking and other activities.
Consumers are advised to monitor announcements from individual Oil Marketing Companies, as actual pump prices may vary across fuel stations.
