The Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama, have presented rebranded Gold Coins to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at a high-profile ceremony held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The presentation formed part of the World-Meets-in-Ghana Executive Gala, which brought together leading figures from politics, traditional authority, business, and the international community to honour the Asantehene’s role in peacebuilding and national development.
During the event, two gold-based art pieces were also auctioned, attracting strong interest from attendees. An artwork designed with 27 ounces of gold was sold for GHS 2 million after an audience member successfully placed the winning bid.
Another piece, crafted with 14 ounces of gold, was auctioned for GHS 1 million and purchased by two individuals who jointly secured the item.

The gala also featured the recognition of several distinguished personalities for their contributions to national development and peace. Among those honoured were President John Dramani Mahama, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwatse III, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the Chief Justice, the Inspector-General of Police, and business leader Sam Jonah, among others.
The event, held at the Jubilee Hall within the Manhyia Palace, was organised by the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Office of the President in partnership with E ON 3 Group. It forms part of activities marking the 27th anniversary of the enstoolment of the Asantehene.

Under the theme “Advancing Peace and Sustainable Economic Development Through Royal Vision,” the gala highlighted Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s long-standing commitment to unity, conflict resolution, and socio-economic progress.
Speakers and participants described the Asantehene as a stabilising force whose influence extends beyond Ghana, reinforcing his reputation as a global symbol of peace and development.
