A sixty-year-old man has been arrested by the Accra Regional Police Command on suspicion of abusing his sixteen-year-old biological son at North Legon.
According to preliminary investigations, the culprit, identified as Eric Mante, allegedly confronted the victim on May 3, 2026, while he was out playing football with friends.
The suspect, who is the victim’s biological father and has three children with the victim’s mother, allegedly tied the boy to a quad motorbike and drove off with him, according to police investigations.
The guy reportedly suffered multiple injuries after falling into the tarmac road close to Adonai Church and being dragged along it.
Some residents noticed the victim’s screams and intervened, preventing the perpetrator from taking the victim any farther.
While the culprit was taken into custody by the police, the victim suffered varying degrees of injuries and was sent to the Legon Hospital for medical attention.
The suspect acknowledged the crime during the course of the investigation and claimed that his actions were motivated by rage over the victim’s actions. Since then, he has been charged and brought before the court.
The Accra Regional Police Command recommends parents and guardians to use legal, non-violent methods of child discipline and denounces all types of violence against children.
Additionally, the Command urges the public to report abuse incidents to the police or other appropriate authorities as soon as possible.
