The deadline for filing second-quarter Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), May 2026 VAT, National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL), and Communications Service Tax (CST) returns has been extended by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) due to severe flooding caused by heavy rains in Accra and nearby communities.

According to the nation’s tax calendar, which mandates that returns be filed on the final working day of the month after the taxable period, the taxes were initially due on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

To lessen the load on companies and people impacted by the flooding, the Commissioner-General has authorised a revised filing deadline of Monday, July 6, 2026.

The GRA states that taxpayers will not be subject to late filing penalties for the impacted period if they file their taxes by the extended deadline; however, regular penalties will take effect after July 6.

In light of the inconveniences brought on by the rains, the Authority is urging taxpayers to use its digital platforms, such as the Taxpayer’s Portal, to prevent needless travel and delays.

Additionally, it advised companies experiencing operational difficulties to seek help from the tax office or Taxpayer Service Center that is closest to them.

The extension, according to the GRA, is a targeted relief measure designed to maintain tax administration continuity while assisting impacted taxpayers in fulfilling their commitments without incurring immediate penalties.

In order to further Ghana’s development agenda, the Authority reiterated its commitment to protecting domestic revenue mobilisation and assisting enterprises during this challenging time.
