PR & COMMS UPDATES – MOTAI
The President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, has cut the groundwork for the Tema Integrated Industrial Park (TIIP), a landmark project that is projected to greatly accelerate Ghana’s industrialisation push and strengthen its position as a regional manufacturing and export powerhouse.
The event, which took place in Tema, today, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, signalled the start of what the government characterises as a revolutionary public-private collaboration with the goals of increasing industrial capacity, generating employment, and incorporating local companies into regional and international value chains.
President Mahama stressed that industrialisation is no longer a policy choice but rather an economic necessity.
He urged project partners to fully dedicate themselves to creating a contemporary industrial enclave that embodies the long-term goals of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s founding leader, who initially established the Tema industrial zone as a pillar of the country’s development.

The expansion of manufacturing, processing, logistics, and exports will be greatly aided by the TIIP.
The 83.5-hectare industrial park, which is ideally situated just seven kilometres from the Tema Port, is anticipated to boost Ghana’s competitiveness under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The project is a strategic investment that will establish Ghana as a major industrial hub in West Africa, according to Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.
She stated that the park will increase export-oriented manufacturing, boost value addition, and encourage import substitution. She also disclosed that the Cabinet has adopted four important sector-specific measures to assist the industrial park’s growth and draw investors.
These include the National Agribusiness Policy (2026–2036), the Ghana Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Policy, the Automotive Components Manufacturing Policy, and the Ghana Textiles and Garments Manufacturing Policy.
According to the Hon. Minister, these frameworks are intended to build a sustainable ecology for industrial growth and job creation, draw in anchor industries, and offer regulatory certainty.
TDC Ghana Limited, the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC), and ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms collaborated to develop the TIIP, which is expected to generate substantial downstream economic activity across various sectors and more than 4,000 direct jobs.
In order to guarantee the project’s successful completion and to maximise its long-term influence on Ghana’s industrial development plan, Hon. Minister Ofosu-Adjare reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating closely with all stakeholders.
