Bank of Ghana Sells GH¢9.98 Billion in 14-Day Bills to Manage Liquidity

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has sold approximately GH¢9.98 billion in 14-day central bank bills as part of its ongoing efforts to manage liquidity within Ghana’s banking and financial system.

The transaction was conducted on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, under Tender 874, with the central bank selling GH¢9,978.29 million worth of the short-term securities.

The 14-day central bank bill, identified by ISIN GHCBAGH01314, attracted strong demand from investors and financial institutions. All bids submitted within the accepted discount-rate range were fully allotted.

According to the auction results, bid discount rates ranged between 10.40% and 10.46%, while the weighted average discount rate stood at 10.4543%.

The weighted average discount rate translated into a weighted average interest rate of 10.50% per annum. Accepted bids carried interest rates ranging from 10.44% to 10.50%.

The latest Bank of Ghana auction forms part of the central bank’s monetary and liquidity management operations, which are aimed at regulating excess liquidity in the banking sector and supporting stability in Ghana’s financial market.

The continued use of short-term central bank securities also provides the Bank of Ghana with a tool to influence liquidity conditions and maintain orderly conditions within the money market.
