The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a public warning over an AI-generated video circulating online that falsely appears to feature its Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq.
GoldBod has urged members of the public to disregard and report the fake video, warning that it does not represent any official communication from the institution.
The gold sector regulator stressed that it will never ask members of the public to make payments or solicit funds for an investment scheme that has not been officially announced through its authorised communication channels.
GoldBod Warns Against Online Investment Scams
The warning comes amid growing concerns over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create fake videos and impersonate public officials.
GoldBod said members of the public should exercise caution when they come across investment opportunities, fundraising appeals or financial requests allegedly issued in its name.
The institution emphasised that any legitimate announcement regarding GoldBod investment schemes, gold trading, financial programmes or other official activities will be communicated through its verified platforms.
GoldBod therefore advised the public not to send money or provide personal or financial information based on unverified videos or social media posts.

GoldBod said all its official announcements and public communications are published through its official website and verified social media platforms.
The public is encouraged to verify information before acting on any message, video or investment offer claiming to originate from the Ghana Gold Board.
GoldBod further urged anyone who encounters the fake AI-generated video or similar fraudulent content to report it through the appropriate social media channels.
