The new state-owned power plant is expected to bring significant benefits to Ghanaians by helping reduce electricity costs, improving power supply and strengthening the country’s energy security.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson said the project will also help Ghana save valuable foreign exchange by reducing the need to rely heavily on imported power and fuel.
According to Dr. Ato Forson, the government’s investment in the power sector is aimed at creating a more efficient and affordable electricity system while supporting economic growth and reducing energy-related costs for households and businesses.
The new power plant is therefore expected to play an important role in Ghana’s energy sector, particularly in efforts to lower electricity tariffs, improve power generation capacity and protect the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
