The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has commenced legal action against Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo and media personality Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, over alleged defamatory statements.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 28, 2026, the Manhyia South lawmaker confirmed that he had filed a Writ of Summons against the two individuals in connection with what he described as false and defamatory claims made about him.
Awuah Seeks Civil Redress Through the Courts
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah said his decision to pursue the matter through the civil courts reflects his commitment to democratic accountability and lawful dispute resolution.
The MP contrasted his approach with what he described as the government’s handling of disputes involving alleged false information.
He explained that rather than seeking criminal prosecution over the alleged publication of false information, he had chosen to seek civil redress through the courts.
Manhyia South MP Speaks on State Security Allegations
The lawmaker also addressed allegations involving state security agencies and the reported detention of a woman.
Awuah alleged that a mother of three minor children had been taken into custody by state security personnel late on Saturday and remained in police custody.
He maintained that attempts to intimidate or silence him over his advocacy for the woman’s rights had not succeeded.
The Manhyia South MP said he would continue to pursue the matter through lawful and constitutional channels.
Awuah Reaffirms Commitment to Justice
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah reiterated his determination to seek justice for the woman and her children while handling the dispute through established legal processes.
The defamation case involving the Manhyia South MP, Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo and broadcaster Blakk Rasta is now before the civil courts, with Awuah seeking legal redress over statements he considers false and damaging to his reputation.
