The victims, who were locals, had gone to the mining site intending to work there. The victim, identified as Kofi King Arthur, was shot in the chest and died there and then.

Albert Oppong and Joseph Tawiah, the injured people, have lower back and thigh injuries, respectively. They are currently receiving medical care at Sefwi Asafo’s St. John of God Hospital.

Access to the mining site is restricted on the majority of days, according to members of the community.
