President John Dramani Mahama reaffirmed the country’s unwavering dedication to those who gave their lives in defence of Ghana by presenting the families of the eight Ghanaians who perished in the devastating military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, with the government’s full compensation package.
President Mahama highlighted that although no amount of money can replace the lives lost, the government has a responsibility to make sure that the families left behind receive significant and long-lasting help. He described the ceremony as the fulfilling of a solemn national vow.
Additionally, President Mahama thanked public institutions, businesses, and individual Ghanaians whose kind donations bolstered the Children’s Support Fund, reiterating that accountability, openness, and responsible management have guided every step of the process.
“This is how a grateful nation remembers its heroes – not only through words of tribute, but through enduring acts of care, responsibility and solidarity,” President Mahama said.
