Ecclesiastes 9:4 says anyone who is among the living has hope and that a live dog is better off than a dead lion!
Dear all,
Reading this devotion is a confirmation that you are alive. A blessing too great to take for granted.
We do not have everything we want and need but once we have life, there’s hope for us. Never respond “it is not well” when you are asked “how are you”, as such a response only demonstrate our ignorance and ingratitude to God for giving us what we need, (life) even to be able to complain. Which one is preferable? Alive with needs and wants or dead with wealth and riches?
Many who have passed on would have given everything to continue living, if that was possible. This is because HOPE remains with only them who LIVE. This week, I submit to you that your life which you inadvertently do not value is a PRECIOUS AND PRICELESS GIFT. IT IS A PRIVILEGE AND NOT A RIGHT. A PRODUCT OF GOD’S MERCY, NOT OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS._* He is the giver of life. It is in Him we live, move and have our being. Let’s not take that for granted!
Everything is possible to those who have life. More can be gained; good can be improved to best; mistakes can be corrected; offenses can be forgiven; unfulfilled dreams can be realised. So, we must not allow the troubles of yesterday to affect our hope, trust and confidence in God. It is a great deception to think that we are better off dying than living. Once we have life, it is possible that all will be well.
A friend of mine, who has been struggling to put up his own house for the past ten years, and has been unsuccessful, suddenly became so thankful to God for the fact that he has life. Why? Because another friend who was able to raise money in 6 months to buy a mansion, suddenly died without enjoying his mansion. Once we are alive, we shall overcome our challenges and one day, we will get what we desire. This hope that life gives, is better than getting what we desire now and losing our lives.
The Akans say “su nkwa ma ade3 mbra”, to wit, pray for life and and all others will follow. Today is a gift, loaded with greater blessings. In fact, there’s more hope for us today than there was, yesterday, so this week, let us be thankful to God for LIFE.
