Permission to do a second autopsy has been given to the family of late singer Mohbad by the Ikorodu Magistrate in Lagos State.
The family voiced their displeasure with the first autopsy results, which were considered inconclusive, and this decision was made in response.
Singer Mohbad, 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, under dubious circumstances. The next day, he was buried.
The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) excavated his body on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy, in response to numerous appeals from Nigerians seeking an explanation for his death.
The first autopsy’s findings, however, were disregarded by the family because they did not identify the cause of death.
To ensure that an independent toxicological report is presented to the court prior to the final report being submitted to the authorities, they filed an appeal with the presiding magistrate of the coroner’s inquest.
The Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court authorized Mohbad’s family and their attorneys to perform a second autopsy during a hearing on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.
The court’s ruling attempts to provide the singer’s family some closure and explanation for his sudden passing.
