Kwame Ntow Amoah has been appointed as the new Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

He takes over for Edward Abambire Bawa, who was reassigned to GOIL as Group CEO and Managing Director.

As a former Deputy Chief Executive at GNPC and Advisor to the Minister of Energy, where he also held the position of Director of Petroleum, Mr. Amoah brings a wealth of leadership experience to his current position.

He has played a significant role on numerous industry, national, and international boards and committees over his career.

As a Technical Advisor in the Maritime Boundary Case, which Ghana won on September 23, 2017, he was a significant player in international arbitration cases affecting Ghana.

His efforts have been crucial in helping GNPC and the country obtain large investments and funding. He had a significant role in drawing in investors who made Ghana a commercial producer of oil.

He also played a key role in obtaining almost US$7 billion for the Sankofa Oil and Gas Development Project, which included US$700 million in World Bank partial risk guarantees.

Mr. Amoah has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana and an MBA from IMD, Switzerland. Along with taking specialist courses in energy and petroleum management, he has also finished a number of leadership and management training programs.

In addition to congratulating Mr. Amoah on his appointment, GNPC has faith in his abilities to guide the Corporation toward sustained success and expansion.
