Nana Amakye, whose real name is Daniel Koranteng, has refuted claims that, before to Suale’s 2019 murder, he sold Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong pictures of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

After being charged with murder provisionally, the Madina District Court has placed 35-year-old businessman Koranteng under remand in custody.

Call logs, according to the prosecution, indicate that Koranteng was in the vicinity of Suale’s Madina home when the murder occurred.

Additionally, they assert that Suale himself had previously named Koranteng as the source of the photos that were eventually shown on Net2 TV, where Kennedy Agyapong demanded that the journalist face consequences.

The prosecution claims that although Koranteng acknowledged meeting Suale, going to see Kennedy Agyapong, and shooting pictures with Suale, he denied selling any of the images to anybody.

“He admitted knowing the deceased, visiting Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, and taking photographs with the deceased but denied selling the photographs to anyone,” the prosecution told the court.

The prosecution further claims that Koranteng turned down several police invites in 2019 and fled to the UK. Following intelligence reports, he later returned to Ghana and was taken into custody in Amasaman on March 15, 2025.

Committal procedures are scheduled for April 1, 2025, and the court has remanded him into custody pending additional investigations.

“During the investigation, the accused declined multiple police invitations and later fled to the United Kingdom in August 2019. He subsequently returned to Ghana, and intelligence led to his arrest in Amasaman on March 15, 2025,” prosecutors stated.

Kofi Essel Hackman, Koranteng’s attorney, has also harshly attacked the Madina District Court’s choice to charge his client with murder, describing it as a “shambolic” charge motivated by hearsay and hidden agendas.

“The police hurriedly put a charge together on the offense of murder. First, they were talking about abetment; now, we are talking about a surprise charge sheet of one count of murder. They prayed to the court to remand our client with no basis. I describe this as a shambolic charge sheet,” Essel stated.

He further claimed that the accusations were made for political reasons and that the prosecution’s case lacked hard proof.

“Because they have nothing on our client. It is just a multitude of allegations on hearsay that have been put together. It is just for someone’s career to shoot up, and someone has to go down; that is a witch-hunt, and we are going to deal with that,” Essel added.

The matter is still being investigated, and during future court appearances, officials are anticipated to provide further evidence.
