The Ghana Education Service must immediately reinstate the headmaster of the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale, according to the Ghana National Union of Teachers (GNAT) (GES).

The Association claims that the interdiction lacked foundation because there had not yet been a thorough study of the problem.

The embattled headmaster, Mr. Doughlas Haruna Yakubu, has reportedly lost trust as a result of the GES’s action, according to GNAT.

In an interview with Citi Radio in Accra on April 18, GNAT General Secretary Thomas Musah criticized GES for making such a choice.

After a widely shared video revealed students utilizing toilet cubicles as dorms, the GES on Sunday, April 16 ordered the headmaster and the Senior Housemaster of GHANASCO in Tamale to resign.

Douglas Haruna Yakubu, the head of GHANASCO, claimed that the report was manufactured to harm the school’s reputation, while Prince Kwame Tamakloe, the journalist who wrote the story, is adamant that it was not.
