On May 3, 2023, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will host a public lecture featuring His Lordship Justice Dennis Dominic Adjei, Judge of the Court of Appeal, to honor this year’s International Press Freedom Day (WPFD 2023).
“Shaping a future of rights: Freedom of expression as a motor for all other human rights” is the overarching theme for WPFD 2023.
The local issue, “Freedom of expression: A driver for all other human rights for Ghana’s development,” will be discussed by Justice Adjei, who is also a judge on the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which has its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
The public lecture will be followed by a flag-raising ceremony, all of which will take place in Accra on the forecourt of the Ghana International Press Centre.
Mrs. Gifty Affenyi Dadzie, a former president of the GJA and member of the Council of State, will preside over the ceremony.
The ceremony is anticipated to attract ministers of state, members of parliament, diplomats, media partners, media professionals, media educators, and students.
Before the public lecture, which is the day’s main side event, begins at 9:30am, a book exhibition will open at 8am.
The public may be interested in purchasing books on the media and other topics published by Ghanaian journalists and other authors on show at the book exhibition.
For additional information, prospective exhibitors should call the GJA General Secretary at 024 427 5167.
