The Kyebi traditional council has requested that Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng provide evidence to support his assertion that galamsey is taking place in President Nana Akufo-Addo’s Kyebi house in the Eastern Region directly under his nose.
The council informed journalists on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the president’s Kyebi home that there have never been illegal mining activities close to the president’s home, refuting the claim made by the renowned heart surgeon in his 37-page galamsey report, in which he named top government officials as either being involved in galamsey or supporting it.
The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining’s chairman, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, said in his report that his committee had to repair a portion of the president’s Kyebi fence waal and garden after it was damaged by galamseyers.
But the chiefs refuted the assertion.
During the press conference, Kyebi Chief Osabarima Marfo Kwabre said, “There is nothing like that here and that is why I am here with the Kyebi executives, and we are to ensure that we clear the president’s name.”
“The reports of the president engaging in galamsey activities are not true,” he adamantly claimed.
The chief said, “It is very awful that a man who has worked hard for over 45 years to establish his name is now being attacked as he is getting ready to leave the president.
Thus, he challenged Frimpong-Boateng to back up his assertion.
The chief stated, “He should come here and prove to us that the president was involved in galamsey, and we expect him to come here and prove to us.”
