A new location for the one-week observance of the late Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, better known by his stage name Daddy Lumba, has been revealed by his family and management.
The solemn event will now take place at Independence Square in Accra tomorrow, Saturday, August 30, 2025.
At first, the University of Ghana Stadium was intended to host the observance.
The La State Council, however, warned the family that a restriction on drumming and noise-making had been implemented in the La Traditional Area since August 11, 2025, and would be in effect until September 5. As a result, the plan was changed.
Council representatives suggested that the event be moved or postponed because the stadium is under their jurisdiction.
The family apologized in a statement for any inconvenience the last-minute change may have caused.
The announcement stated, “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support.”
Thousands of fans, singers, and dignitaries are anticipated to attend the one-week celebration, which honors the life and legacy of a man considered to be among Ghana’s greatest musical heroes.
