The assassination of artist Shatta Wale was the subject of a prophecy posted on TikTok, according to a pastor who testified before the Dansoman Circuit Court.
D.Y. Donkoh, whose real name was Reverend Daniel Yaw Donkoh, was accused of publishing fake information. He entered a not guilty plea.
Mrs. Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Basit, the court’s presider, granted GHC 20,000 bail with three sureties, one of whom had to provide justification.
Every two weeks, Domkor is required to report to the police. The case was postponed to the Case Management Conference on August 27, 2025.
The accused was a family man with four children, a known local, and the founder of a church in Israel, Tabora, in Accra, according to defense counsel, who pleaded for bail.
Donkor had cooperated with the police, according to counsel, and would not obstruct investigations.
The complainant, Charles Nii Armah Junior, also known as Shatta Wale, is a singer and businessman who resides in East Legon, Accra, the prosecuting attorney, Chief Inspector Kwadwo Aboagye, informed the court.
Samuel Baah Atuobi, popularly known as Sammy Flex, the public relations manager for the Armah, told police on July 21, 2025, that on July 20, the complainant and his group discovered a TikTok video in which the Donkor stated that he had a vision of Shatta Wale being killed by three armed men.
The prosecution claims that since the video went public, the Armahs have been traumatized and live in constant fear.
Donkor did not answer when police tried to reach him.
“During investigations, the accused indicated that he posted the video on his TikTok page regarding the assassination of the complainant to get his attention,” the prosecution stated.
Police learned on July 25, 2025, that some Armah supporters were about to raid Donkor’s church in Tabora Alhaji because they were upset about the video.
To avoid any disruption, officers went to the scene and asked Donkor to be questioned.
