The General Secretary announced on Tuesday that Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, an outspoken member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had been submitted to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee for remarks that were considered derogatory and detrimental to the party’s reputation.
The party accused Baffoe of publicly disparaging presidential candidate Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in a petition signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong. The petition claimed without proof that the former MP lacked wisdom and that a committee report had suggested his expulsion.
Baffoe is also charged in the petition with fabricating allegations against the General Secretary and distorting the results of a disciplinary investigation.
According to the party, such behaviour violated confidentially and threatened its authority and unity.
The NPP has requested that the disciplinary committee carry out a “complete and unbiased investigation” and impose sanctions consistent with its constitution.
“The party emphasises that ensuring accountability within its ranks is non-negotiable because it safeguards the unity, integrity, and credibility of the organisation,” the petition stated.
If found guilty of wrongdoing, Baffoe, who has already stoked controversy with venomous remarks, might be subject to sanctions ranging from suspension to expulsion.
