The 2026 Afro-Gastro Festival and National Heritage Photography Competition have been formally launched at Accra’s Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.

In addition to empowering young artists and promoting tourism, innovation, and cultural preservation, the two flagship projects seek to honour Ghana’s rich gastronomic and cultural legacy.

The Heritage Photography Competition will encourage young people under the age of 25 to use photography to preserve and commemorate Ghana’s distinct cultural character, while Afro-Gastro will highlight African cuisine, local ingredients, and culinary tourism potential.

Ghana’s commitment to using culture, history, and the creative economy as engines of national development and Pan-African cooperation was reaffirmed at the launch, which brought together government representatives, development partners, creative industry participants, and tourism stakeholders.
