The Finance Ministry’s leadership has seen major changes under President Akufo-Addo.
A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) representing the Atiwa East seat, Abena Osei-Asare was most recently the Deputy Minister for Finance. She was named a Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.
After Ken Ofori-Atta left the position on Tuesday, February 14, 2024, after seven years and two months, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam was named the new substantive Finance Minister. She succeeds him.
Dr. Alexander Ampaabeng, the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for the Western North Region’s Juaboso constituency, has also been named the Deputy Minister for Finance.
Abena Osei-Asare was promoted from deputy minister to minister of state before to this appointment.
