According to reports, over 300 illegal miners are said to be stuck in one of the shafts at Anwiam in the Obuasi East District of the Ashanti Region, which is home to AngloGold’s Obuasi Mines.

The illegal miners, who are looking for gold deposits, are trapped inside the pit and are pleading for assistance to be saved.

While those who are awake claim the miners have called for assistance, some of them have lost consciousness underground.

AngloGold representatives have not responded to the report.
