Albert Kan-Dapaah, minister of national security, is said to have filed a lawsuit against Oliver Barker-Vormawor, leader of the #FixTheCountry Movement, for allegedly accusing them of seeking to buy his silence with money.

Barker-Vormawor made the bribery accusations after being detained in Accra for organizing a protest.

He claimed that in order to curtail his activity, which was allegedly casting the government in a negative light, he was offered a tempting sum of $1 million and other lucrative posts in government.

He claimed to have supporting documentation, but he hasn’t yet made the files available to the public.

Kan Dapaah has responded by asking the court to deem the accusations defamatory and is requesting a retraction of the statement, an apology, as well as GH10 million in damages.

The Ministry of National Security disputes Barker-Vormawor’s accusations, despite his assertions that he has proof to support them.

According to Barker-Vormawor, his legal counsel has encouraged him to submit an official complaint to the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
