The competition to become the NPP’s next flagbearer for the elections of 2024 is heating up.
Ten candidates have chosen nomination forms as of the time this report was filled up to run in the November New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
Boakye Agyarko, a former campaign manager and policy advisor, was the first to pick up nomination paperwork on May 26.
Following that, individuals like Kofi Addae Nimo, the former Energy Minister, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, and Frsncis Addai-Nimoh selected their nomination papers to indicate their readiness for the race.
Others include Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice president, Kojo Nsafoah Poku, a businessman and energy specialist, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former trade and industry minister, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a member of parliament for Assin Central, and Joe Ghartey, a former railways and development minister.
The deadline for nominations is June 24, 2023. On November 4, the NPP will hold the presidential primary.
If there are more than five candidates, the party will conduct a special conference on August 26, 2023, before that. The number will be whittled down to a minimum of five during that particular conference.
