Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem has called for greater mobilisation of private capital to finance Ghana’s climate investment needs, stressing the importance of attracting more private-sector funding for climate-related projects.

According to the Deputy Minister, public funds and concessional financing should be used strategically to leverage private investment and expand funding for projects aimed at addressing climate change and promoting sustainable economic development.

He said stronger collaboration between the government, development partners and private investors would be critical to closing Ghana’s climate finance gap and supporting the implementation of climate-focused projects.

The call forms part of broader efforts to mobilise climate finance in Ghana, particularly for investments in sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, environmental protection and other projects that can support long-term economic growth.

Thomas Nyarko Ampem emphasised that using limited public and concessional resources effectively could help unlock significantly larger amounts of private-sector investment for climate action.

The strategy is expected to strengthen Ghana’s ability to finance its climate priorities while creating opportunities for investors to participate in the country’s growing green economy and sustainable development agenda.
