Senior officials from Ghana and Sierra Leone met in Accra yesterday, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, for the Technical Session of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC) in an attempt to improve bilateral relations between the two nations.
In her speech, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Co-Chairperson of the Technical Session, emphasised the longstanding relationship between Ghana and Sierra Leone, which is based on respect and collaboration. According to her, the meeting initiates a system put in place in 2013 to give the two nations a forum for organised communication.

Ambassador Khadija also stated that substantial preparation work had been done to ensure that the session yielded meaningful results and advocated a focus on sectors such as commerce and investment, military and security, agriculture, energy, and healthcare.
Mr. Alan C.E. Logan, Director-General of Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Co-Chairperson, described the meeting as a critical step in translating the two leaders’ shared vision into concrete outcomes for the mutual benefit of their citizens.
He underlined the need of utilising Ghana’s knowledge in fields like agriculture and reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to bolstering economic relationship and extending collaboration across critical areas.
The meeting demonstrates Ghana and Sierra Leone’s shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing sustainable development via organised interaction and useful collaboration.
