The Commission’s efforts to develop Ghana’s institutional structure for fisheries management and carry out the Fisheries Act’s requirements include the inauguration.
Professor Berchie Asiedu, the Deputy Executive Director (Technical), spoke at the event and emphasised the significance of a reliable and open licensing system for the efficient management of the industry.

He underlined that the creation of FLEC will encourage accountability in the licensing process and improve due diligence in assessing applications for fisheries licenses.
Professor Asiedu expressed confidence in the Committee members’ capacity to make significant contributions to the Commission’s work and congratulated them on their appointments.
He stated that this accomplishment shows the Commission’s dedication to guaranteeing an open, equitable, and effective procedure for assessing applications for fisheries licenses.
