” Better is the end of a thing than the beginning of it.” Ecclesiastes 7: 8, AMPC.

This week’s exhortation is quite simple and straightforward. Our end is gonna be better than our beginning.

Brethren, how we start anything is not as important as how we end it. So, though we may be lacking today; though we may have weaknesses today; though we may be struggling with addictions today; though we may have siblings, children or relatives who may be very incorrigible today; and though we may have difficulties today, how these end for us, is what is important, and this week, I am led to tell us that it will be well with us in the end.

We may have had rough beginnings but we won’t have rough ends. So, we must not keep dwelling on the negatives of the past. We cannot continue to frustrate our selves by dwelling on what didn’t work in the past. We do a great disservice to the attitude required of us to embrace our better end, when we focus on the past mistakes (which all men make, and which we cannot undo), and the useless guilts which only worsen our woes and prevents us from moving forward.

Hear me, satan, through mortal human hypocrites would pelt you with stones about your past, which all men have, anyway. But we must be strong and resilient because we do not live in the past, we live in the present. More importantly, we are not defined by our past, rather, we are prepared by our past to be able to handle our better and glorious end that is coming.

So, this week, may we be filled with hope that, regardless of our present challenges and past mistakes, how things end for us, is what matters most. For there’s no value in the life that starts well and ends in tears. May those of us who have started well, end well and may those who have present and past challenges be hopeful for a better end. Surely, better is the end of a thing than it’s beginning.

The word of God for the week!
