During the 2026 Invest in Africa Mining Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa, Ghana reaffirmed its status as a major destination for sustainable mining investment and a major force behind the development of mineral policies in Africa.
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, led a high-powered group that included leaders from major mining and geological organisations.
Ms. Ama Mawusi Mawuenyefia of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), Dr. Prosper Akaba of the Ghana Geological Survey Authority, Mr. Williams Okofo-Dateh of the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC), and Mr. Isaac Tandoh of the Minerals Commission were among the delegation members.

Through a number of high-level bilateral meetings and stakeholder engagements, Ghana showcased a unified national policy that prioritised local value addition, sustainable resource management, and enhanced continental cooperation.
Officials emphasised continuing reforms that are intended to increase local engagement throughout the mining value chain, encourage responsible mining practices, and improve regulatory certainty.
Additionally, the group met with foreign investors and development partners to discuss potential collaborations that promote industrialisation and the creation of jobs.
The Minister highlighted Ghana’s determination to use its mineral resources to propel economic change while maintaining environmental sustainability and fostering community growth.

Governments, investors, business executives, and legislators from all over the world gather at the annual Mining Indaba to talk about investment prospects and the prospects for Africa’s mining industry.
Ghana’s significant attendance at the event demonstrated its desire to continue leading the continent in ethical and competitive mining.
