Overall market capitalisation on the Ghana Stock Exchange stood at GH¢285.58 billion at the end of August 2026, representing a 65.99% year-to-date increase.
However, market capitalisation declined by 2.37% from the GH¢292.51 billion recorded in July.
The financial sector recorded 36,846 trades in August, the highest trade count among all sectors on the exchange.
Trading was particularly concentrated in GCB Bank, which recorded GH¢26.1 million in turnover, and CAL Bank, which traded GH¢4 million during the month.
Not every banking stock benefited from the market rally. CALBank’s share price declined by 11.4% in August, while Societe Generale Ghana recorded a 12.1% monthly decline.
