Ghana’s external buffers have got a big boost, with gross international reserves now exceeding US$11.41 billion, according to the Bank of Ghana.
Dr. Johnson Asiama, Governor of the Central Bank, disclosed the most recent numbers at the start of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, calling the development as a significant indicator of strengthening economic stability.
According to him, the current reserve level is comparable to 4.8 months of import cover, which he argues strengthens the country’s resilience to external shocks.
