Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson has commissioned new membership

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development’s Compounding Offenses Committee has a new membership, which was commissioned by Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson.

“With the current challenges in the administration of offenders in the law courts, the inauguration of the Compounding Offences Committee is timely and critical in disposing of pending case of infractions in the Ministry’s books,” Hon. Koomson stated in a brief inaugural speech. It also improves the efficacy and efficiency of the Fisheries Commission’s system of penalties and fines.

Among other things, the eight-member committee will suggest suitable penalties and punishments for the different offenses in compliance with the Fisheries Act 2002 (Act 625) and the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 2014 (Act 880).
