The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has decorated 22 senior police officers who have been promoted from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP).
The decoration ceremony was held in the presence of members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) and formed part of the Ghana Police Service’s formal process of recognising officers following their elevation to the higher rank.
The Ghana Police Service announced the promotion and decoration ceremony in a post on its official Facebook page on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, congratulating the officers on their new appointments.
IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno led the decoration ceremony, with members of POMAB present to witness the official recognition of the newly promoted DCOPs.
Among the officers decorated was popular gospel musician and police officer ACP Kofi Sarpong, who has also been elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The Ghana Police Service congratulated all 22 newly promoted police officers and wished them success as they take on their new responsibilities and leadership roles.
The promotions are expected to strengthen police leadership, administration and law enforcement operations as the officers assume their respective duties within the Ghana Police Service.
