Solomon Asamoah, the former CEO of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), has refuted claims made by Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine that he is hiding in Senegal to avoid investigations.

Mr. Asamoah clarified in a statement released on Monday, March 24, 2025, that he left Ghana on March 21 for scheduled company board meetings and not to evade legal scrutiny, calling the allegations “entirely inaccurate and untrue.”

“I categorically deny the false and incorrect allegations that I have gone into hiding in Senegal. This claim is entirely inaccurate and untrue,” he stated.

He added that no officials had gotten in touch with him about an inquiry during his time in Ghana in February and March.

But on March 22, a day after he left, a National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) representative messaged him on WhatsApp and asked for a video conference.

“As a demonstration of my commitment to transparency, I agreed to hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 26, at 4pm to address any concerns,” he reiterated.

A major player in the ongoing Sky Train Scandal, Mr. Asamoah also justified his time as GIIF CEO, claiming that during his tenure, the fund’s capital increased from GH₵1.2 billion to GH₵5.2 billion, and by the end of 2023, its cumulative net profits had surpassed GH₵2.5 billion.

“I have not committed any wrongdoing and absolutely have no reason to run away from justice,” he declared, claiming his innocence.

He stated his willingness to return to Ghana to support the Attorney-General’s investigations and pledged his complete cooperation with authorities, saying that he is sure the process will uphold his integrity and reputation.
