At the 3rd Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Conference in Accra, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, the Hon. Deputy Minister for the Interior, emphasized the value of teamwork in maintaining fire safety in Ghana.
In order to avoid fires and handle emergencies, stakeholders must collaborate, according to the conference subject, “Resourcing GNFS for Effective Service Delivery: The Role of Stakeholders.”
In order to provide a more steady and sustainable flow of resources, Hon. Terlabi mentioned that plans are in place to resource the GNFS through the Security Services Fund.

He acknowledged the dangers the GNFS takes to safeguard people and property and praised them for their professionalism and bravery.
He continued, “Fire safety is a national imperative, requiring the involvement of government, private sector, civil society, and ordinary citizens.”
In addition to encouraging residents to develop a culture of fire prevention in their daily lives, the Deputy Minister called on stakeholders to provide the GNFS with resources, equipment, and training.
No fire department in the world is successful without adequate planning and strategy, according to Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, Chairman of the GNFS Council. He underlined that in order for the fire service of the future to fulfill its purpose as expected, it should be digitalized, intelligence-driven, and staffed by professionals.

Chief Fire Officer Madam Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong said in her welcome statement that the Service has achieved progress by educating the public and protecting lives and property despite logistical challenges.
She gave assurances that fire safety is a shared duty that calls on everyone to be involved and that GNFS will shortly launch its digitalization effort to improve its job.
The conference’s goal is to solve the GNFS’s problems, such as its lack of infrastructure and resources.
