Kofi Iddie Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, denied a February 23, 2026, article published by myjoyonline that said he had instructed Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the Director General of the National Sports Authority, to cancel the appointments of 17 employees.

According to the article, the COO has until Thursday, February 26, to leave his office along with the other 16 people on the list. It also bemoans a number of transfers that were allegedly unfair.

This article follows one published by the same portal two weeks ago under the headline “CHAOS AT THE NSA,” which stated that the new NSA Board had requested that Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah revoke the appointments of these specific 17 individuals after it was discovered that the recruits had been hired without the necessary authorisation.

The report also suggested that Mr. Ankrah had resisted the board’s request, which is what led to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation’s most recent action.

But when asked about the real circumstances around the purported decree, Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams flatly denied the publication, calling it an inaccurate reflection.

This does not accurately depict the circumstances. When clearance is obtained, the 17 must be positioned inside the current NSA structure, he stated. I requested that the NSA provide me with the complete emoluments for the 17 individuals based on their dates of employment.

In addition, he insisted that in addition to submitting personnel data, a gap analysis of the current structure be conducted so that any necessary changes could be presented to the board for approval.

Since the Sports Minister disclosed the actual circumstances, Myjoyonline has removed the headline.
