Kwesi Arthur, a Ghanaian rapper and songwriter, has spoken out about the bitterness and resentment that he says exists in the Ghanaian music industry, particularly toward famous artists.

In an interview with Kwadwo Sheldon, he remarked that people frequently want to put artists against one another, resulting in unneeded tension and competitiveness.

“There’s a certain type of resentment people have towards people like us. It’s a thing about us, and people tend to do that a lot. They pit people against each other like in politics, music and movies, I think that is a very harmful thing, that we do among ourselves as a people. We have no regard for how the other person might take whatever we say,” the musician reiterated.

The Fefe ne fe hitmaker also criticised the nasty and condescending behaviour some exhibit on social media, adding that those who live in sorrow frequently want others to feel the same way.

He stated, “People are very mean, negative and condescending and they tend to show that on social media and because certain people live in misery too, they want you to feel their misery.”

Kwesi Arthur’s words illustrate the hurdles encountered by artistes in the Ghanaian music industry, where success is sometimes met with criticism and animosity.

He emphasises the need for a more supportive and less divided environment, where artistes may develop without being held back by the negativity of others.

He also mentioned his new album, “Redemption Valley” a highly awaited 8-track project that dropped on January 17, 2026.

He clarified that the record is a personal investigation of self-discovery, progress, and resiliency.

He responded to fans’ requests to go back to the Kwesi Arthur they knew by saying that he has changed and outgrown that version of himself.
